Egress Window Requirements
An emergency egress window is required in each bedroom. Maximum sill height of emergency window is 44 inches above the floor. Minimum opening height is 24 inches and minimum opening width is 20 inches. Egress windows are required to have a minimum clear opening of 5.7 square feet. Window wells shall provide a net clear area of 9 square feet with a minimum horizontal projection and width of 36 inches. Window wells deeper than 44 inches shall have a permanent ladder or steps.
